Practice Area: Family Law - General, Job Type: Attorney, Firm Type: Law Firm, Experience: 2 Years, A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for its Charlottesville, VA, office.Job Overview:The Associate Attorney will counsel and represent clients in various family law matters. They will be involved in drafting legal documents, conducting research, preparing for court proceedings, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in hearings and trials.Duties:Drafting pleadings, briefs, discovery, and other case-critical documents.Conducting legal research to support case strategies.Preparing for depositions, motions hearings, and trial proceedings.Providing second-chair assistance in court.Advising clients on all aspects of family law-related issues.Negotiating settlements on behalf of clients.Serving as lead counsel for hearings and trials.Requirements:Must be licensed to practice law in Virginia or prepared to obtain licensure.Possess strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.Dedicated to providing high-quality representation on challenging, sophisticated matters.Third-year law students, recent graduates, and experienced lateral candidates will be considered.Prior experience in family law is preferred.Education Certifications:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Licensed to practice law in Virginia or eligible for licensure.Skills:Strong legal research and writing skills.Excellent negotiation and advocacy abilities.Ability to work effectively in a team environment.Proficiency in case management software and legal research databases.
