Research Associate Galvanize USA Position Title: Research & Data Associate Location: Remote Reports to: Research Director Hours per week: 40 Overtime Status: Exempt Position Summary The Research & Data Associate will report directly to the Research Director and play a critical role in ensuring all research and data is accurate and accessible to the organization to ensure we’re rigorous and adhering to best practice in research management. Primary responsibilities will include supporting the Research Team in the development of reports, memos, and ad-hoc analyses and managing, cleaning, and overseeing the quality control of data sets in support of research projects. The Research & Data Associate will have the opportunity to learn from seasoned research colleagues, vendors, and partners in the social justice movement and be supported in exploring and applying their unique strengths and contributions in order to advance the organization's mission. The Research & Data Associate will engage in advanced projects like predictive modeling and data visualization of randomized controlled trial (RCT) results to illustrate outcomes. Responsibilities and Tasks In partnership with the Research Team, manage, clean, and oversee the quality control of data sets in support of research projects Support Research Department in designing, planning, conducting, and coordinating research projects advancing our mission Lead development and maintenance of compelling data visualizations for key research projects and create data visualizations for ad-hoc requests, including across departments Lead the development and regular upkeep of detailed research and datasets Support administrative and operations needs with research vendors and consultants on as needed basis Support the facilitation of cross-sharing of research and data learnings and skills within the organization to ensure the full team is accurately using data sets and the key insights garnered from them Support the Research Team in the development of reports, memos, and ad-hoc analyses, including but not limited to electoral trends, voter models, survey and polling results Provide timely and relevant support of data requests for specialized research projects and external use cases Miscellaneous All employees of Hopewell Fund are required to complete timesheets Performs other duties as needed Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability We are seeking candidates who are excited about growing their research and data skills, lead with curiosity and critical thinking, and are passionate about unlocking the power of women to advance progress for all. You should have: Education and Experience: Minimum one year experience in applied research, data analysis, or data management Strong writing and verbal communications skills Strong data visualization skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, work well under pressure and deadlines, and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively Demonstrated ability to build sound relationships with staff at all levels and to provide input where and when appropriate Ability to effectively work remotely Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Familiarity with Looker Studio Intermediate experience with SQL and R Managing multiple priorities while maintaining exacting accuracy At least one cycle of political work or volunteer experience Experience in creating informative and engaging data visualizations using industry-leading tools Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability Familiarity with statistics and randomized controlled trials, and their application to voter targeting, segmentation, and program evaluation Knowledge of state Voter Files Compensation & Benefits The starting salary range for this position is $60k - $70k. Placement within this band will be determined based on years of prior experience and relevant skills. Galvanize USA also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (and their families). Employees are able to enroll in the 401k retirement plan and are eligible for a 3% automatic contribution and up to a 3% employer match on 401k contributions. Employees are also eligible for pre-tax transportation benefits. Employees will receive 120 hours of vacation time, 80 hours of health leave, up to 2 days of casual leave, and 20 hours of volunteer leave annually. Employees will also receive 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are eligible for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave after 90 days of employment.
